A buddy and I have done a side by side comparison of a rebuilt CII (using Jim's great L2 kit) and an Acrosound UL II amp. We both felt the Acrosound had the edge with a better soundstage, excellent HF .......

I have one of his Inspire SE HO Amps along with one of his LP-27a preamps. The amp is fantastic - a tube rollers dream. I've used 6V6, 6L6, EL34, KT66, KT77, KT88, KT120 and KT150's in mine. It allow .......

It's Alive! All is well in MC240 land. Voltages are within 10%. A full resistor swap should have it right on spec. It even sounds good! Thanks for the help. .......

They look like a pair of 250TH transmitting tubes, so I would say it is indeed an RF Transmitter. .......

So I swapped out the dozen hi value resistors for stock values and all of the readings fell into spec +/- 10%. The carbon comps that remain will be replaced with CF & MF 1% and it should be good to go .......

As Mike pointed out, they were done as a specific mod and it was good work. I'll be bringing it back to the original circuit with equally good soldering skills! .......

Holy Crap! You hit the nail on the head! It never occurred to me that the resistors had been replaced with different values. I never gave them a thought assuming they were just modern updates. 33K .......

If I can't find the revised tables I'm going to go through it once more to make sure everything is as it should be, then I'll power it up and watch current and take voltage readings at the tubes. Than .......

The list of resistances and voltages are part of the MC240 maintenance manual. MC30 has it as well. I test resistance before I apply power post rebuild. .......

Mike, Thanks for the tip to Jim. Based on posts I've read of yours I reached out to him last March and used his kits on a pair of MC30s I blueprinted. The K40Ys are nice caps and his suggested tweaks .......

I have a late model MC240 that came to me with some mods. The bias wind on the PT was fried and a micro transformer was wired up to supply the correct bias voltage. Very well done, I might add. Now it .......
