The Sansui SR-929 manual has a procedure to get the lateral weight set up. It's tonearm has a double knife bearing. More or less, from memory: Raise the back of the table 4 inches, float the arm, and .......

The MA50 is a monoblock. I've not measured it, supposed to be 50W, but it gets incredibly hot, and can handle big impedence swings. It's the best amp I've found for ESL63s, and I've tried plenty inclu .......

The SP6 does not have solid state devices if I recall correctly. You might be thinking of the SP9. I've had the SP3, SP6 and SP8 at the same time, and I rebuilt all 3. They are all close to identical .......

I have 2 ARC DAC3s (not MK II). I concur with the reviewer that they are the best redbook DAC i have heard. The amplification topology is the same as the LS5 preamp, which might explain why it sounds .......

Right thats the tonearm - the Acos/Lustre arm that was made for Rega. Audio Origami has it labelled Rb200, which is how I intentified the arm. I've seen it in other places as R200. .......

Armboards I have no problem with. I like using carbon fibre from McMaster Carr. I was referring to the mounting collar to locate and secure the arm to the armboard. Basically a thick o-ring with 3 gru .......

I really think its a system dependent thing that Linn suggests. I have a pair of Kans, used to have Indexes, and the richness of the old LP12 synergizes with them, and makes a small system sound large .......

Yes, I thought the 405s could be improved with opamp upgrades. But at present I'm finding them too aggressive with these speakers The Musical Fidelity MA50s however are just so much better than the 40 .......

No, the joints were all good. As I mentioned, I fixed an ARCAM the same way. The (at least some of the old timers) B&O techs have been fixing the old B&O CD players (like 3300 and 4500) w/ a 33uf cap .......

Try the Chinese Shuguang 12ax7c. They are superb sounding, and cheap too. Next step up from them is NOS: Telefunken 12ax7 or Siemens 12ax7. In my experience, everything else is inferior sounding. ::: .......

Here's my take: We got the LS5/II and LS5/III sounding very very similar. You could be happy with either, and they are SO much better than the Sovtek verions, that its almost irrelevant. I don't think .......

Hello. I used to have 2 of the 3. I had the CD5/Flatcap2, and the Jupiter 2000. The Jupiter 2k is better in the midrange, and warner than the CD5. The CD5 tends to brightness, but also has better bass .......

The 2 close to the front panel (v1, v2) are the gain stage. The 2 near the back at cathode followers (v3, v4). The CFs tubes do make a difference in the sound on this too. But, you can use noisy tubes .......

What do people mean by 'low noise' tubes, for phono and MC headamp stages. Does that mean low hiss tubes? I assumes that tubes that pop and snap are shot anyway, so that won't be part of the 'noisy bu .......

Looks like the main difference between the SL700 and the SL6s are the boxes- SL6S is wooden, and SL700 is aerolam. The woofers are the same, and the SL700 tweeter repair kit fits right into the SL6S. .......

I moved the SL700s to the living room. Now, this room does loose bass, whereas my listening room is treated with real traps to bring the bass back. Hooked it up with a Leak Stereo 50/Croft preamp/Naim .......

Tapping has not unearthed anything. I resoldered a bunch of parts, to no avail. It was suggested to me that the FETs and opamps often get noisy. So, I'm going to change them - see my post in the Tweak .......

Try using them upside down for a bit. If its the voice coil, it may straighten itself out. If that works, then rotate them in the box. Common problem with many old speakers - spendors, leaks.. Samir : .......

I have a Jensen 1:10 tranny as well. The Audionote thru the jensen is cleaner, but needs to be run close to max vol, so you are getting tube hiss. I also have to slap on external loading, and am using .......

Hi Bernard. Dont have any info on the SP-6 mods. There is a metal plate at the back telling us its been modified, but I did not get any more info with the amp. Its been sounding so good, that I've not .......
