Now we're cookin'. So, it appears that the +/- rails are separated by tube sections instead of bottles. Meaning, a positive and a negative section exist in each 6AS7 dual-triode tube. So, any matching .......

Agreed with 6BQ5- is there a an audio portion of the schematic? It appears that each potentiometer would control a bank of 3 output tubes, a positive rail trio and a negative rail trio for each channe .......

Good idea. Those connections are on the cathodes, which could have high voltage though. I would think that Plasti-Dip would have a high enough insulation rating (certainly better than the current situ .......

Hi John- Sorry, just saw your post. For a preconditioning burn-in device, really all you'd need is a power supply for the filaments. Pins 7&8. 6.3 V. @ 2.5 A. each, use Ohm's Law for what's available .......

You mean the parallel R-C network, right? It should be an inherently better way for shunting RF. I've used both methods, and found that it's very amp dependent. The R-C's worked well with my SS amp. .......

I would heartily recommend the RCA clear top. It's characteristic sound is closer to that of the 6CG/FQ7. As mentioned below if you know that your heater supply can handle it, the 6FQ/CG7 is an even b .......

At least, that's where I'd start. If all of your 6SN7's except the GE's are "scratchy/ noisy" (not sure about the microphonic part) in the Rogue, but not in the Mapletree, then I'd suspect bad contact .......

They have a good selection of different hardwoods that are pre- cut in various widths and lengths, and semi- finished (rough sanded). I used 3/4" Mahogany for my IIIA frames, and this worked out real .......

The markings may be washed off/ faded with age. Have you tried holding it up to a really bright light? Sometimes it helps 'huffing' on the glass to fog it over and read old print. It certainly looks l .......

You can use the Russian 6N3C-Es, although they won't have quite the power output. They're a 6L6 type. NOS can be found for around $5 a piece, and that is awesome news when you're re-tubing Hurricanes. .......

It couldn't be simpler. Just place them in the tweeter attenuation port, instead of the steel jumper, and tighten the set screws back down. No soldering required. You can use these alone, or in combin .......

I've used these as coupling caps in my amps, and have found that they take a while to 'form,' and after they do, they're a very fine capacitor. I'm playing around with these as bypass caps in my MGIII .......

Sounds like a good idea, the downfall being that this is a single triode. Similar characteristics, but it uses twice the heater current, and you'd need two of them to make a 6SN7. I may give this a sh .......

And for the price, they're definitely worth trying. They lean more towards the bright side (at least the 6SN7 type does,) but they're very clear and detailed, and make great drivers IMO. I enjoy them .......

I find this tube to be great with 12AU7 applications. The gain is lower, with a mu of 35 or something like that. It would be similar to the comparison of substituting a 5751 for a 12AX7 application in .......

I do prefer the resistor in parallel with the chokes, and that was tried and evaluated after listening with only the 5502s in line via the tweeter attenuation port. It doesn't make a whole lot of sens .......

Flitz polish, then Ice liquid car "wax" afterwards to protect works great on mine. The Ice doesn't leave any residue, and seems to fill in minor imperfections, then wipes right off leaving a nice shin .......

I further recommend the Magnepan MMGs, they are one of the best speakers out there for this price, period. If that airy, live sound with details and "presence" is what you're after- they will certainl .......

I believe they are just stating that their batch came in a bulk box, as it was originally intended for original equipment manufacturers. I can't see a reason why Telefunken wouldn't sell the ECC803S p .......

For another cheap alternative, try making one out of the foamy- mesh cupboard shelf bottom lining stuff. It's very similar to the material that the popular None- Felt mat is made from. Cork does work .......

I'd definitely do each set of speaker cables that feed your system. The parts are cheap enough anyway, and you can always pull them out if you don't think they have an effect. It isn't so much just a .......

I bet you could make your own stands that look and function very similarly to the Mapleshades for a lot less. Yeah, probably 3-500 less at least. They're good looking stands, and I don't doubt a bit t .......

That was my first inclination also. Then I saw that a NOS 10M 12AX7 went for around $225 on eBay (checked the completed listings) and there is another website that lists them for $700 MP. That's nuts .......
