Try using packing tape or electrical tape to secure the techflex at the end of the cable. This will also allow the connector to slide over the techflex without abrading it... You can then remove some .......

Hi, Beebob. Not all 5/8" hose actually measures 5/8". Some will be a bit larger. I have no idea what insulation thickness is for the 12 AWG wire you used, so the insulation thickness may also be thick .......

I've soldered thousands of these, personally, with no issue at all. I've also had thousands of units terminated by DIY customers, with maybe two pieces that got cooked. Both instances were 'operator e .......

The original WBT-0110's were a bit of a pain, in that they flexed too much after termination. I stopped using them because of this. The newer WBT-102 and WBT-0152's are much better in this regard, and .......

I used an exterior, solid core door (masonite) for my room, and it works well for soundproofing. However, don't assume that your best 2-ch listening will come with the door closed. At least in my case .......

With the red book CD I have (Capitol CDP 7460012), the tick is exactly after the two guitar notes after "the lunatic is in my head", between 2:01 and at 2:02. On the SACD version, this same tick can .......

The WattGates are fine connectors, but just are not suited for DIY'ing onto this cable. It can be done, but it's a huge pain in the butt to do. The connectors need modding with a high speed rotary too .......

I have a buddy who's a jeweler, and I think it's likely a fair bet that the wire wasn't drawn to a very tight tolerance. Sharp kinks are a huge no-no with IC wire. .......

The insulation I use on the conductors is rated for at least 600V, and I have an additional FEP Teflon jacket over the pair or quad. The Flavor 2's and Flavor 4's also have at least an 1/8" wall synth .......

Try foamed pipe insulation that comes in 4 foot "sticks". It's the stuff that gets put on 1/2" copper pipe. It's essentially foamed polyethylene, which is a decent dielectric for this application. ::: .......

The Oyaide do not have isolated ground. Keep in mind that unless you have metal conduit and a metal outlet box, the need for an isolated ground is zero. .......

In my experience, the best performance will come from keeping pin 2 and pin 3 wiring identical, and the geometry should maintain a high degree of symmetry. Pin 1 (ground) can be a diffrent wire, howev .......

I've worked with wire as small as 40 AWG and don't think there is any benefit (to my ears) vs larger AWG such as 28-30 AWG. The downside of such small wire is higher resistance and the wire itself is .......

Don't automatically assume that bi-wiring is always the best way to go. In my experience, speakers that have low order (first) crossovers may not benefit from bi-wiring, and may actually sound inferio .......

I have WiFi in Bishop, CA! Actually the 10 AWG ground is non-plated copper. FWIW, I've not had good luck with silver plating for AC- the sound was ear-bleed bright with low, mid and high strand count .......

You're way off base on silver oxide, IMHO. Silver oxide is actually a non-issue as silver oxidizes extremely slowly. Silver tarnish (silver sulfide) is actually the result of silver reacting with hydr .......

The only way to be sure is to mock-up a set in whatever geometries you propose for the wire you want to use, but use less expensive wire for the experiment. Measure twice, cut once. .......

It seems transports do quite well with larger AWG PC's, whereas DAC's and preamps may actually sound worse, in my experience. Bbest policy is to try and trust your own ears... .......

Some manufacturers do it this way, but by the time the text gets put on the cap, the people stamping it have absolutely no idea were the outer foil is, especially when the leads are bare tinned copper .......
