Hi Vaughn I have experience with Rega Planet mods. It can be made to sound much better than a brand new Planet 2000 or the new Jupiter, but there's lots of work involved and the parts are getting scar .......

Please see attached post. I no longer recommend removing the 500 ohm resistors and filter cap from the Rega output. They are part of a low pass filter that can be heard as digital harshness if removed .......

The original Planet is a $400 CDP (used) that has excellent instrumental timbre, very little digital "metallization" and soundstaging in spades. On part I, I fixed a few things that make it sound blan .......

The Linear Technologies (Texas) LM1086 5V fixed version has much lower noise and tighter tolerances than a regular 7805. In my system, it does increase smoothness and soundstaging, a sure sign of a qu .......
