Re: VPI record cleaning machine

The 17F has reversible motor drive as standard (you can buy this type of motor for a 16.5 as an option). Jack G. is right in that you can probably scrub better manually than the set brush position for the 17F, but you can always buy a separate brush and scrub by hand on the 17F.

BTW, "automatic" cleaning for the 17F does not mean that you just put the record on the platter and you're done. You've gotta pump the fluid on the record, start the platter rotation, lower the scrub brush, reverse the motor, raise the scrub brush, stop the motor, swing the pickup arm, start the motor, start the vacuum, shut off the vacuum, shut off the motor, unscrew the record from the platter, and occasionally empty the waste trap, brush off junk from the pickup arm felt and fluid brush, and refill the fluid reservoir. Now you can see why I'm hoping and cheering "GO SACD!", but I don't believe that Joe Consumer is going to perceive any added value past regular CDs (unlike DVD, which I saw selling at Walmart today).
