Hi MBK,
The balanced configuration is just the one I am using.
The inverted audio dignal is obtained by inverting the DATA with a 74HC04 before entering the DAC. You now need two IV converters; one driving the +input of the outputbuffer and the other driving the -input of the outputamp. You get twice the voltageoutput. The outputamp performs the balanced to single ended conversion.
Initially I implemented the balanced configuration to get rid of the staircase signal. But this was a faulty thought as the staircase has the same polarity as the audiosignal i.e. is is not cancelled by the balancing act. However the audiosignal is much cleaner, less high frequency garbage. Sonically the balanced drive gives the audiosignal more bass power. I also designed a balanced 3-pole filter topology along the lines Crystal did in one of there datasheets.
