I've been wondering if high efficiency speakers generally come alive at lower listening levels? I do a lot of listening late at night and I'm looking for some speakers that don't need to be loud.
Currently I'm using a setup consisting of phono into a rebuilt Eico HF-81 (14 Watts per channel) into a set of Spendor BC-1s. I'm quite happy with the sound at normal levels, but the Spendors are not very efficient, and once the volume has to go lower they kind of lose their magic. I'd like to stick with the Eico, can you guys recommend the right speakers for me? Horns, maybe?
Thanks, Walter
