I mix in a room that was setup by Tomlinson Holman according to the ITU standard. The speakers are all equidistant from the central listening position. The center is along the 0 degree axis and the Left and RIght are 30 degree from either side. The Left and Right Surrounds are between 110 -120 degree from the center line...still along the perimeter of the circle. The LFE sub is placed away from a wall.

I have used B&W speakers and SLS speakers but after the spectacular sounding system we used in NYC at the HE 2002, I will be opting for a set of Piega P10, a speaker that I had not heard previously. We were fortunate to have a Meridian 800 and 861 cabled to a set of Aloia Amplifiers (I've never heard 60 watts sound so good...inductive power supplies really work).

Depending on the mix that is selected...the chance to experience a good mix is up to the equipment and software.

Hope this helps.
