This isn't the least bit scientific, but here are my two cents...

I think it is a transport issue. I've tried the back button access tweak (press play, wait 12 seconds, press the back button) on two diffferent CD players: a Technics changer and an NAD C521i. A difference in sound quality was audible on the Technics, but not the NAD. However, the pause tweak (press play, press pause, wait 20 seconds, press play) is somewhat audible on the NAD. Can't try it on the Technics. Furthermore, the black pen tweak (mark the outside edge, mark the inside edge) makes no difference in sound quality on the NAD. Once again, can't try it on the Technics.

Both players were connected to an amp using RadioShack Fusion AV cables. These cables have built-in RF interference filters and are heavily shielded.

I'm curious to read what other folks observe when trying the different tweaks on different CD players.

Jeffery
