Try the following "PAUSE/SKIP track access" :
- Put the CD transport/player in STOP mode.
- Access any track using either direct entry or PLAY and immediately put it in pause for about 20 seconds, then SKIP to the next track
...voila...a major improvement in playback quality...some might say PERFECT. You can now use the "next" and "previous" buttons (without the PAUSE) to access any track with the same level ofimprovement in sound quality.
...I'll apologize right up front for bringing this up again for those in the know. For the rest, some background on the "relevation" about indirect CD "track access" having a significant improvement in playback quality. The previous best synopsis of the "track access sequence" to achieve the above improvements is by Todd Krieger . In my unit the improvement is there but variable. Hence the new track access scheme.
The original proponent, Jerome Lang, recently posted related further improvements brought on by the use of the PAUSE button.
I have been upgrading interconnect cables in my system, recently, and am stunned by how transparent my system has become using the "new" "PAUSE/SKIP track access" in combination with Jon Risch's twisted 89259/89248 interconnect cores. It has made the sonic improvement much more unambiguous and "may" help those who have not been able to appreciate it. Your mileage may vary...but I like to see some constructive comments instead of the classic "take a long walk on a short pier" sort of comment...I've seen enough of those comments from related posts. Overall system transparency has something to do with it for those who cannot "hear the effect...I think...just curious if this new method has made things easier for those who had tried previously and heard no difference.
