I auditioned both the players (along with the Genki and Ikemi) about four months ago.

The difference betweent the 92 and the CD 23T is smaller than the difference between the 72 and the 92. The 92 is a good unit, and is essentially free from digital 'grain'. The CD23 will offer more detail and a nicer sense of 'air'.

If I had a 92 aldready, I don't know if it would justify the added expense to move to the CD23. If I had a 72, on the other hand, I'd jump to the CD23. From the 92, it's a difficult choice. It's a good player, and it will cost quite a bit more to gain a significant improvement.

For me, I picked the Genki, which, in my opinion gave the CD23T a run for it's money (maybe a little less detailed than the 23, but it had more pace). Besides, I couldn't afford the Ikemi. These comparisons are in the context of a Linn system, so there may be some system synergy operative in favour of the Linn players here.

I don't know if that helps out, or makes things more confusing.

Bottom line - try the CD23T in comparison to your player (preferably in your system) and see if you think the difference is worth it. If you hear a worthwhile change, and can afford it, then go for it. The 23 is an excellent player. If not, don't bother and keep the 92, or try out a couple of different players if you have the itch for a change.

Best regards,
Jason
