Hi CeeCee23,
As you are referring to digital digital harsness here is in short what I did:
Install a low jitter clcok in the CDP like the DIY KWAK-CLOCK. (schematic available by sending me a email)
Use Wildmonkeysects loopfilter for the CS8412 if you use a separate DAC and use a low noise supply for the loopfiltersection of the CS8412.
Use separate supply's for digital and analog and separate as much as possible digital and analog world. Use mains filters and two chamber or slpitbobin transformers, pi filter supply etc.
Use a non oversampling DAC, that is throw overboard the digital filter! Keep away from the HDCD chip as this is a ringing digital filter too.
Use asynchronous reclocking just before the DAC chip. (currently I am using a 48 MHz crystal in the third overtone mode, as the reclocker clock and it sounds fine. (Schematic also available by sending etc.)
It took me ten years of tinkering and upgrading and without the help of many inmates of AA I would never reached my goal as close as now.
I have better sound than from my vinyl but for a few years the situtation was reversed. Currently I am using the much better sounding AD1865, compared to the AD1851.
This list is not a complete disclosure but will give you a idea. Also note that many modifications can also be done to a one box integrated CDP.
