I have not personally noticed any degradation with pure silver oxide after almost 10 years of use on some cables. However, I do not live in a particularly polluted environment. The only thing that I am aware of that will help is Silver-Saver. It is a treated paper that should be in close proximity to the silver. Not sure where you can get this retail.
