Bottlehead Forum: Wow (Philips SACD-1000) by Benb

Folks,

In case you haven't been following the buzz over on the General and HiRez Asylums, there is a lot of talk about the Philips SACD-1000 right now.
And rightly so...

Tweeter is selling them for $399 (originally retailed for $2000, then $1000).

I picked one up on Friday and hooked it up replacing a Pioneer DV414 going into an MSB Link I. Wow. Not a subtle change. Much more detail on Redbook CDs, awesome soundstage. Maybe a little more forward presentation than I'm used to - not bad just different. I'm new to SACDs but if what I hear on the new Rolling Stones Let it Bleed is any indication, SACDC may be the first real challenge to vinyl.
My rig is now almost hallucinogenic.

System is Phillips SACD-1000 => Foreplay (C4S, Musicaps, Amperex 7316PQ) => Parabees => Silverline Sonatinas (1st version), Rava sub. Vinyl supplied by Rega Planar 3 , Ortofon MC25FL, Lehman Black Cube (need to order the Seduction).
