Hi Mike,

The Teres Verus arrived a couple of days ago. It has changed the sound of the Scout dramatically, though it took me a few hours to realize what was actually going on - it's unlike any other upgrade I had put my system through so far.

Playing music I'm familiar with, the first thing I have noticed is that instruments and vocals are now precisely located within the sound stage - playing percussive music is a real treat. The bass has solidified and there is an increased sense of clarity and silence between the notes.

Rythmic music has become much more involving to the extent that I'm rediscovering music I am familiar with.

The Scout sounds the same in the sense that its tonal balance and sound signature has not changed (unlike some reviews I read), except it does everything better. I can't say how the Aries will sound with the Verus but I suspect it will benefit from the upgrade similarly.

Considering the SDS costs $1K, I think the Verus represents terrific value. Teres offers cheaper new and used (with a new motor installed) DC motors but the Verus is a plug and play solution. My Scout sits on a Gingko Cloud 9 suspension so I suspect using a DC motor with a mylar belt wouldn't work so good and keeping the elastic rubber belt with a new motor does not make sense. The Verus works great with the suspension - the suspended scout and the motor lean one against the other. I also have a Gingko plinth-top dust cover and the new motor, suspension and dust cover fit so well together it almost seems they were made to used together.

I am very happy with the sound of my Scout and have no second thoughts about the upgrade.

Jonathan.
