It might be your record. My Hi-Fi News test record has an audibly distorted groove on the +18-dB test track. I have an old CBS test record with the same +18-db 300-Hz test signal and my OC9ML/II tracks it perfectly at 1.7-g VTF with antiskating set to 3.0.

At any rate, it is not necessary for any cartridge to track the +18-dB test signal in order to play music correctly so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. ;-)
