Z,

If you have a Valhalla (or a Lingo for that matter), you have a 50Hz motor. If you are in the US, and upgraded from a Basic power supply and still have the (spare) motor, then you have a 60Hz motor too. Since the LP12 motor is a synchronous AC motor, the speed of rotation is dependent on the line frequency, not voltage. Both the Valhalla and the Lingo resynthesize the incoming AC to DC, and back to AC again with a 50 Hz output frequency. Since the Armegeddon is simply a glorified Basic power supply (with, of course, a large isolation transformer), you'll need a 60Hz motor in the US. Most DIY Armegeddon users play around considerably with the value of the voltage-dropping resistor. Popular wisdom seems to indicate that the lower the AC voltage, the less vibration - however, with too low a voltage, generating sufficient startup torque becomes a problem (the motor will simply sit and vibrate). Good listening,

-Richard
