Quickly, I do the following, based on what I have read in this forum, and personal observation.1. Make sure the table is level
2. Align the cartridge using the provided template
3. Put a record on the platter, and adjust VTA so that the untapered part of the tonearm is parallel to the record surface.
4. Adjust the counterweight until arm balances evenly on the pivot
5. Push the arm to the centre, it should take 2 to three seconds to drift over to the edge of the platter. If it is more or less, twist the tonearm wire one twist clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust. No more or you will throw the tomearm askew
6. Use your scale to set the cartridge tracking force. It should be at the high end of what is recommended by the manufacturer
7. Eyeball the cartridge mount to ensure asymuth is correct. If necessary, gently place a popsicle stick across the top as a visual aid. the asymuth should be parallel to the record surface.
8. repeat steps 2,3,6,7 until you reach a stable setting
Once this initial set up is complete, you may want to experiment with VTA and tracking force to maximize the performance of your cartridge.
