A couple of photos showing the getting-close-to-doneness of the bastard-child of the SP-10. As you'll recall, I tore apart a used (150.00) SL-1200MK2-I'd guess that so far I've got a couple hundred bucks (cash out of hand) into this.

I epoxyd a piece of brass rod to the bottom of the bearing-it adds a little mass, and when I fill up the bearing 'well' with lead shot, it will drain away nasty vibrations.

I saw somewhere that all the Cool Guys with SP-10MK2/3s had copper or brass platter toppings, so I made my own from a piece of 23g copper sheet, glued down with contact cement. Supposedly protects cartridge from motor EMI. Does it have an effect? Don't know, but it only cost 12.00. Added bonus-it flushes interior of platter with the outside 'rim'

The 'sorta' ready for action' view. I've still got a bit of work to do before setting it up in my system, but that's going to be a few weeks from now-I'm going to be gone/busy for the next month or so.

It's been (is) a fun project, but if you count your time for virtually anything, you'd be better off buying an SP-10MK2, building a plinth, calling it good. But then, you wouldn't have an SP-9.5.

"dammit"
