and the old DV 10x5 didn't really match up as well with the Sumiko as it did with the standard Technics shell.
But the DL-103 really, really likes the Sumiko. The extra mass seems to liven things up and smooths out the bass a bit, too.
Plus, there's a lot more room for aligning the cart. I like the TT Basics alignment better than the Technics alignment jig, and you've got to get the cart pretty far forward to get things squared away with the TT Basics thing.
Oh--here a tip for those of you with gymballed arms and the TT Basics protractor:
Immobiiize the platter first, then line up the protractor with the center of the arm pivot with a piece of dental tape.
White dental tape is just the right color and thickness to show up well against the mirror finish of the 'tractor.
Just make sure you use clean stuff....yech....
