Hi,I don't own the MCA-10 but the more expensive MCA-76. I do have specs of the MCA-10.
Ortofon MCA-10 pre-pre-amp:
Impendance: 10 ohm
Gain: around 34 dB
It's battery driven.
Price was 300 guilders (around US$150) in '78.
No RIAA correction, you have to connect it to a MM input.Ortofon MCA-76 pre-pre-amp:
Freq.response: 20Hz-50kHz within 0.5dB
Gain: 34dB
Input impendance: 75 ohm
Output impendance: < 140 ohm
Max input: 6 mV RMS
Channel sep.: > 60 dB
%THD (1 kHz, max input): 2' harmonic - 0.04%
3' harmonic - 0.01%
Input noise: < 0.05 uV
hum level: 120 dB below max. input
S/N ratio (used with Ortofon MC20; SL20E; 10 cm/s): > 69 dB
subsonic filter: -20 dB at 2 Hz
Price was 500 guilders in '78. This is around US$250.About the MCA-10:
The input impendance is 10 ohms, so in theory it isn't possible to use a cart like the Denon 103 (40 ohm). It's not that bad in practice, -2 dB at 20kHz. All Ortofons, Audio Technica's don't deliver problems. There is always sufficient gain. According to the reviewer it isn't possible to hear the MCA-10 (it doesn't add anything to the sound).About the MCA-76:
Not much to say. According to the reviewer a best buy, compared to the Ortofon STM72, Denon AU-310, Denon HA1000 and Ortofon T-30.
Regards,
RB
