Disaster strikes:>(

G'day all,
A month ago me luverly wife bought me a sealed MFSL of Floyds Meddle for my 40th birthday, one of my all time favs and a pressing i've always wanted. This was a LOT of money but what the hell, it's going to last me forever and the 40th is a special one eh?

This beautiful sunny Sydney spring afternoon was just the mood after some house painting to sit back and give Echoes a good session. Perfect. Hard kicking bass, Gilmours vocals like warm syrup, the harsh squeaky bit not at all harsh, all spot on.

The Echoes side ends so i undo the record clamp on the SME 10 a bit too quick and it spins out of my hand, lands sideways at around the 20 minute mark and dents the vinyl, then spins a perfect parabola towards the start of the lp making a beautiful white scratch and then just as it's about to topple off the side of the record does aturn and returns to about the 12 minute mark. A perfect 6 etched into the record with a deep dent at the top. It's fucked, completely and utterly fucked. I played some hoping it was surface mark. No hope.

I've got 1500 lps, i've got a lots of stuff that wouldn't be too bad to be damaged, but no, it has to be the bloody Floyd.

My wife was outside and heard my cry of anguish as the clamp span away. "What's wrong?" she calls. "Nothing" says I "I nearly dropped something"

I'm gutted
