The Classic comes with a .5 cap on the 600 RPM motor, this gives the quietest running combination.
When the SDS is used and you are running at 72 to 84 volts you need the .68 cap like the one in your Scoutmaster. The SDS sees the cap in the Classic and thinks it is looking at a short, not a motor. Send an e-mail to VPI with your name and address and we will send you a new cap. It's a 2 minute change using wire nuts, no soldering.
BTW, the Classic gets better the more you use it.
