Which Karat do you have? The 17D MKII is known to be a BAD match for the minimax that Bill O'Connel recommended me against. It doesn't like the available loading settings and even when factory changed it doesn't sound great.I don't think he'll mind if I drop an excerpt from this email:
"I don't think I would use the Karat as one of my
customers used that cartridge and was happier with his
Dyna-Vector 20xL. We even modded his phono for his Karat
and although I haven't heard from him, I think I would
have if he was happy, so with that in mind I don't
recommend the Karat."That said, I've used it with the 20X-L with great results and am currently running it with a Denon DL-103 which is awesome as well. If the choice were mine, I'd change carts before phonostages--the minimax is a gem.
