PLL jitter reduction and lock question for Dave I . or anyone else

My DAC has the Crystal CS8414 input receiver, and per the thread below by Dave I, I increased the cap value to 5mfd and reduced the resistor to 100 ohms. My question is this: How will I know if I've lost PLL lock? I've put as much as 10mfd on it and it still plays. Is there a way to put a "lock" indicator on my unit? When does the law of diminishing returns come into play, here?
