Non-linear Timken bearing footers - with fuzzy pic...

I'd like to draw tweaker's attention to this unusual footer setup and hopefully stimulate some discussion regarding their use. The idea was first brought to my attention by Ric Cummins of Room Lens fame. His recommendation was to use these footers between components and a granite slab. Additionally his idea called for the granite to rest on 2"X2" plexiglas/poster board/plexiglas sandwiches.

Since I am quite happy with my Machina Dynamica Promethean platforms I didn't use these as outlined by Ric. After finding suitable locations within my system I can tell you these things offer phenomenal performance. In my system I found these to work wonderfully under my loudspeakers and between DAC and transport.

These things don't seem to like contact with maple but there were some other variables involved so I don't know for sure. If anyone opts to try these I suspect that they will work for some and not for others, unless used as specified by Ric Cummins. They were most definitely non-linear in conjuction with the maple Promethean platforms.

These footers dramatically improved my system performance by adding warmth and smoothness in addition to bringing out significant amounts of previously unheard detail.

Timken part #'s

O-rings (optional, but I prefer setup with these in place)

Small DH Cones (optional, but again I prefer their use, current DH Cones are black and would look really nice in this footer system)

DH Squares (I use DH Squares between the footers and my loudspeakers for protection of my hardwood floors. I haven't tried going without the squares because my wife would kill me if I damaged the flooring)

Basic setup costs about $45 per set
add $20 per set for small DH Cones
add $25 per set for DH Squares

Many here will absolutely love these things, especially if your system is a little thin sounding. These should definitely help out a lot in this case.
