Hi Silverslide,
Sivercontacts seem to be better sounding than goldplated ones. I believe Doug Sax said that a long time ago, but I am scratching this from my memory......
I have discarded four goldplated Elma switches that are corroded after six years of use... I never used agressive chemicals on these. Besides the corrosion the contacts were scratched through the very thin gold layer; do you believe a 40 Ohm contact resistance?
Needless to say the sound was corrupted very much and in such a way the square was no longer a square wave when passed through my preamp.
I am currently using Electroswitch selector and balance switches and a Shallco 47 position volume control; all with sivercontacts. So far not met any problem with these.
