Burn in period

My Signums sounded quite a bit better after 10 days of continuous burn-in with a 70dB white noise/sine-tone-sweep signal. However, mine took 4 weeks of continuous burn in before the sound stablised.

After a month, the initial treble sharpness transforms into a overwhelming transparecy. Trumpets still sound potent, and powerful in a most natural way, without grit, without sounding like the instrument has sore throat. Mids lose their flatness and take on lots of colour, speed and articulation. The bass? From the initial boominess, the bass blooms with higher resolution, producing clean notes which integrate coherently with the mids to give a true sense of the timbre of bass guitar, double bass and bass drum. Much better pace and rhythm.

Everytime I thought I should stop the burn in process, I continued another 2 days to witness even more improvements. The sound stopped getting better after a month.

The signums are 1st pair of sonus fabers I own. After the burn in period, I find they are much more expressive than other speakers I've owned as the cabinets "sing" with the music harmoniously, rather than try to damp resonances. You can almost "feel" if the instruments being reproduced are made of metal or wood, if they are big or small, round or thin. You also "feel" the effort the performers are putting in: the bowing, blowing, strumming, plucking, hitting etc.
