I've installed and used these in numerous recording studios as is their primary application.
Ideally soffit mounted (in wall),if well elevated and the room is appropriately acoustically treated, regardless of size, these are a reference grade system which can produce phenomenal full range sound without any boominess.
The bass concerns you voice would be a manifest function of the room in which the speakers are placed.
The entire DMT range of which I still own a pair are extraordinarily well damped designs and if anything the bass will appear as quite dry.
And don't for a second think that their 100dB efficiency means you can run them with a low powered amp of ANY sort, they absolutely demand very high current and also well damped amplifiers...
I've tried loads of amps with these and they will perform poorly with limited dynamics unless man handled !
Those huge and none too light drivers need grunt to start and stop them regardless of the quoted efficiency.
If you can meet the above criteria, you will be well rewarded if not, quite disappointed.
