Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

You still persist in misrepresenting me.

It's sort of flattering, I suppose. You seem to think I am some sort of a technical expert.

Well, I'll leave the technical discussions to the experts beyond noting that you have given no quantitative results nor any audibility data. mls-stl, jneutron, and Atexanathome have dealt with technical issues very very well. I did advise you below not to take on technical issues you don't understand.

SELECTIVE QUOTATION AND STRAW MAN

Still, since you profess a desire to be SOOO fair about giving my views, I should point out an instance of selective quotation. This is how it read in my post below at:

http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/prophead/messages/21082.html

"Some phono cartridges are sensitive to capacitance, that is, adding or removing capacitance will make an audible difference."

"With 3 foot line level interconnects and 10 foot speaker cables, it's quite a different matter. Show that the differences are sufficient to be audible with properly designed equipment."

You didn't give the entire relevant quote. Although I have told you that I do not exempt line level interconnects and speaker cable from LCR effects, you persist in implying that I do, thus creating a Straw Man. In this instance, you neglected to quote the last sentence, "Show that the differences are sufficient to be audible with properly designed equipment." This clearly implies there will be some effects, and the measurements at Audioholics.com show that. You evidently haven't bothered to read the relevant articles there. But under what conditions are the differences audible?

Then, for some reason, you try to make up percentages for me. Please show where I have come up with "99.99999999999%" of cables being neutral. Lots of people use 24 guage wire . . .

IMPROPER DESIGN

You also mention this:

"If the output impedance of a pre-amp is high you will not want an IC with high capacitance...etc."

Now that would be an example of poor design. I wouldn't want a preamp with a high output impedance. Thanks for the example.
