Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Um...

ABX is not the "classic" way to do audio DBT's. There are a whole variety of methods, each of which specializes in a particular kind of test or stimulus situation.

The ability to switch between different stimulii quickly and cleanly is essential, look to Hall's "Level Roving" papers, or quite some other sets of papers in order to find out the basis. If you can't switch quickly and cleanly under listener control, there is presently no clear way to keep the best in test sensitivity.

Your unsupported allegations about forced choice are simple speculation. You need to explain why people can succeed in forced choice tests that go to physical and/or mathematical limits, if there is such a problem as you seem to indicate.

In fact, the evidence regarding forced choice is pretty clear, people making forced choices may (have, and fairly often at threshold) made correct decisions while thinking that they can't really hear anything, and are "just guessing".

I'd suggest that if you don't have something like forced choice, you're creating a desensitization. That's also what the evidence suggests.

I would urge you to review the literature on this, and consider some serious revisions to your advice.
