For weeks now, I've been passing up a cd in the "World" music aisle because I couldn't read the description about the cd thru the wrapping (and I never seemed to have my reading glasses with me anyway:-)

It's called "Lights In The Dark" and the cd cover has the name "Hector Zazou" on it. Now I didn't have a clue who (or what) a Hector Zazou was so I just kept putting it back. I must have picked it up 2 dozen times without buying it. Then, today, I saw it again and remebered a vague reference to Hector in a post here at the Lane and so I took a chance and scooped it up for good. After searching the archives for "Hector" I discovered that Dave Ingels was the poster and I want to say many, many thanks for the rec.

It turned out to be a collection of sacred Irish music - a blending of hymns written in a biligual format (Latin and Old Irish) from as far back as the 6th century. The beauty of this music is beyond description; the recording engineering done by Hector is incredible; this cd surpasses anything I have heard to date in this genre. The lead vocals are done by Katie McMahon, Breda Mayock and Lasairfhiona Ni Chonaola.

I'm really at a loss to adequately describe this work; words like "beautiful" are pitifully short of adjective muscle to do it justice. I'm really and truly stunned by it...if you have any interest at all in this genre, you must have this cd. Serious as a heart attack, get it:-)
