A "Half Horn" is a reflex box with a very large horn like vent.
When the rear chamber is matched just so to a large expanding vent, you load the box with more gain than a standard bass reflex. It in effect become a poor 100hz horn, a short horn with an enormous rear chamber. The two work together
you must use a high VAS over 175 liters for it to work.
A JBL 2226, Altec 515, or 421, or JBL d130, 2220, and a special case is a D123
( the one with the aluminum dome)- my favorite speaker.

The curve shown is with a JBL 2226. Notice the output actually goes up below 100Hz. Only horns can do this better.
