Excellent store. If you plan on coming back, get a "point card" if they still offer them. It should give you points worth about 10% of the purchase price. Better yet, you can do the slightly slimy thing and purchase about 90% of what you expect to get, get your points on a temporary card, then go pick up the remaining 10% for "free."

On the map attachment, Akihabara Station is at the bottom in the center. Of the Ishimaru stores, Soft3 specializes in Jazz & Classical (1st floor is SACDs); Soft1 is the "the big store" for music. Both have decent-sized SACD selections. If you have the time, I'd visit both.

Then again, if you have the time, you should visit other places in the area too...

Not too far from there, at the corner just "north" of Soft1 (two doors and 30 seconds further away I believe) is the DynamicAudio 5555 store. The 7th floor is perhaps the single highest-end audio showroom of Japan (imagine Avantgarde Trios with triple pairs of basshorns, top-end Wilsons, B&W Nautilus, JM Lab Grand Utopias, Avalon Sentinels, all in the same room, fed by stupidly expensive electronics (the lower floors are lower down the scale, towards what mere mortals with money might aspire to). A newer store with very high end equipment is the store marked Refino & Anhelo on the Ishimaru map (top right, just beyond where 5555 would be). Haven't been there yet but have heard it has some nice eye candy.

At the far left on the map, across from the canal, look for the (giant) new Yodobashi Camera store referred to by VA inmate bjkearns (over in VA).

Enjoy!
