the test was done on scd-1 (jeromelang's unmod one), drawer was opened and closed, track access via button without fast forwarding and rewind back to the same track at exactly 12 sec. discs tried were all sacd (what else is there!)

verdict: the 12 sec test has a difference. after the test, the track does not appear as distinct (jeromelang attributes it to edginess) initially. after listening the entire track, the music seems to flow more melodiously and soundstage seems deeper.

although i have to qualify by saying i prefer my music with the edge, the guitars strings to sound so clear as if he's plucking the strings infront of u.

plus at 1 time, the 12 sec test did not work.

did not try the technique u suggest of pressing play when the drawer was opened.
