PRESS RELEASE: Audio Asylum members uncover second cable scandal this week. TAS highly touted HD speaker cable exposed. Asylum member dissects a brand new HD-14G cable, and finds inside the orange and black jacket; what is believed to be an OEM “Nordost Valhalla” speaker cable! Listeners on the cable ward are (understandably) upset over the pricing of the HD cables, and comment, “cables do sound different, and this one was too good to be true.” HD was confronted and posted a (rather lengthy) corporate disclaimer in the power tool department of all their store locations. Asylum members contacted a Nordost company spokesman who was quoted as saying, “ze cable, it is a standard Valhalla, I know nothing (about alleged modifications by HD), but someone is losing a lot of money off our cable.” Follow up story will disclose results of double blind testing to determine whether the HD cable is actually a standard Valhalla cable. Listeners will compare neutrality, tonality, noise floor, dynamics, and rpm, when the cables are used to power several popular circular saws.
