Desirable, but not necessarily a guarantee to perfect sound.

True, but definitely more than just "that second harmonic thing".

When you choose to replace that hand me down Threshold, please do look me up.

Ok, but I'm rather attached to that amp. Bought it new in March 1981. Recently recapped the Mallory electrolytics to give the amp another quarter century of life.

Congratulations, with no equalization whatsoever you have achieved what no audiophile alive has ever achieved. +/- 1.5 from 30 - 200 Hz is unheard of. I guess you have defeated the laws of physics.

My results were measured with Radio Shack SPL meter, Stereophile Test CD using correction file for meter. Final result after about 25 different trials of ten samples each with varying speaker and listening couch positions, bass control on Sound Lab backplate (that is EQ), and bass trap placement. Indeed response at 20 hz is more than 10 db down. You'll notice I haven't been as successful with my other two systems. With those in non-dedicated spaces, speaker placement choices are extremely limited and there are few, if any room treatments.
