Thanks Myles! It is really tough to talk about any subject without putting it in context....The MOBIE by G&D Transforms was my brainchild, but I have no financial interest in it whatsoever. I tried to give Doug a hint on how to break in silver speaker wire and the following will get him 95% of the way down the road as I am leaving out a step I feel is proprietary.....Get out your J&R MusicWorld catalog and order a 100wpc receiver for under $150. Get out your Allied catalog and order two Dale 225 watt 8 ohm inductive resistors and some Superior Electric single binding posts, maybe $30. worth or parts....Solder the binding posts onto the huge resistors and hook up your silver speaker wire to the receiver and the resistors. Use a DMM to set the AC voltage measured at the resistors to about 4 volts on the nastiest rock station you can find and go away for a month....This will give you 2 watts average into the speaker wire, something that would fry most any speaker out there.....In five days the harshness in the upper midrange of silver speaker wire will go away.....It is really advisable to use a fan on the heatsinks of the cheapie receiver or the top will buckle due the heat generated....If you have more than one set of speaker wire to break in buy some dual Superior Electric posts so you can hook the wires together....How did I come up with this? If you had bought thousands of dollars of silver wire that ripped your head off in the upper midrange at 45 days of break-in you would find a way to make it work too!!!Best Regards,
