As you run Quad II's which are usually earthed via their signal leads I hope that you have a "cheater plug" running an earth wire from the 44's power supply to the nearest case screw as all brown stock versions with 4 pin DIN 0.5 volt outputs (and inputs) are "floating". Only the grey phono versions have the inputs/outputs and mains earth bonded by an earth wire running internally from the red psu box to a bolt on the chassis. It's a simple diy job providing that you can solder neatly. Better to be safe than dead eh?
