I started to source the parts fot a FVP5A line level stage and would like to know about any experiences out there with the heater supply. Can I use the 6.3v secondaries without regulation? Or for that matter, a 12.6v filament transformer connecting a pair of 6922's heater rails in series, without regulation? The main PS will use the Superreg kit and choke input.
I know that I have to use a heater supply for two tube sections that is elevated by 150v and the others by 30v, independent from ea. other, I guess that using different transformers.
Follow Ups:
As I answered privately, I have never used AC on the heaters in a line amp so I don't know if it will hum or not...You are right about needing the two seperate supplies, and elevated as you say.
You'll need two different tappings for the line stage, biassed above 0V the way you said. If you're looking for a transformer, either get one with all the secondaries you need, or use one of the small Hammond open froam jobs like a PT166N6 for $14 or so. For the phono, I use voltage and current regged DC.
