I think the main technical difference between the MG-III and the 3a was in a newer ribbon tweeter, with matching crossover. When I had to replace my MG-III tweeters, the only ones available were the n .......

I tried to think of a circuit to balance the three based on the three speakers' impedances and sensitivity in dB. But I had no idea how to mathematically manipulate the dB figures. Magnepan have quit .......

There is a small thread from a couple of weeks ago about wiring the tricenter. But to answer your question, Magnepan's suggested wiring uses one amp. You wire the two MCC2's in series, and wire that b .......

Nothing to do with powered speakers. They were a modification package that IIRC Peter Gunn performed. He made hardwood frames, very beautiful, and changed some crossovers. Everyone (?) who heard them .......

I was looking at the specs for the center and wall speakers. And their sensitivities are within 1-2 dB of each other. The attenuator you showed might not have small enough steps to really dial in the .......

Do you know how the splitter was wired? It could be soldered up to give several different series or parallel circuits. All three speakers in parallel would give an overall impedance of 1.3 Ohms. Spif .......

When I rewired my mid-range, I used a jig to get the wires in generally the right place, then turned on a DC power supply, current limited below 1 amp. That held the wires in place for the glue cure. .......

I rewired my MG-III mid panels about 12 years ago with Magnepan's recommended 3m77 and Miloxane (?from memory?). It worked fine. I live in California, where the lack of humidity might affect success. .......

The DMW and DW1 only go down to 40 Hz to reinforce the bass area of either small Maggies or large ones in a difficult room. you would still need subs, so thanks for the suggestion! ~Ken .......

One thing I haven't seen described is that wires that buzz in the middle of the panel can stretch if you don't take care of them. The MGIII's I got used had had a hard life. They had lots of delam bot .......

I asked Wendell last week about bass improvement for a CC3. He suggested the bass management system that is detailed in the CC5 and CCR manuals. I think it would be the same advice for the tri-center. .......

The CC5 manual has all of the details. But it involves telling your AV receiver you don't have subwoofers and that the L-R Maggies are full range, which forces the AVR to move LFE and base information .......

I have a CC3 and couldn't find a CC2 manual. But a CC3 review said that it was the first CCx with both a base and tweeter section. The CC2 was also much deeper and didn't have the CC3's flat center se .......

I completely rewired the midrange panels and tacked a few base ends of my MGIII about ten years ago using the Milloxane. And it's still holding. I used a preliminary spray of 3M-77 for completely rew .......

I think the tweeter is soldered to wires on each end. The wires run in grooves in the MDF. They are NOT aluminum, so they are easy to (un)solder. I never had to pry out the tweeters. They are pretty .......

OK, maybe I should answer your question :) I completely rewired my MG-III's. The old wire was corroded. So I contact cemented the whole thing lightly, then with the wire held down by the power supply, .......

Climate might also have an effect. I repaired my MG-III's with Milloxane and have had no problems. I live in a pretty arid area and keep sunlight away from the speakers. Pro-tip: get an adjustable DC .......

My MGIII's wood side rails were originally attached with something like a drywall screw. I simply found a longer one that would also go through the wood stand supports I made. It looks very clean. ::: .......

It looks like you did not use a wiring frame. With a frame, the spray mostly passes through the wires to the newspaper laid out on the floor. Just enough is on the wires to hold them down to the mylar .......

I just finished rewiring my MGIII's. The 3M-77 is only useful for temporarily holding down the wires while the milloxane is installed and drying. And the milloxane works fine. So I would forget the 3M .......

Many printers do not print 1:1. Some of them, and especially the color printers, are intentionally set up to alter the scale to reduce the chance of counterfeiting money. I'll assume that mkj drew the .......

I have a Yamaha P320 whose (Yamaha) arm has lots of rods 'n' stuff for play, cue, and cut functions. Is it feasible to upgrade the arm? Or should I just enjoy the table until I buy one more suited to .......

It looks like most of those break-in modes would also apply to stored maggies. The XO components would have to settle in their new homes and the mylar, having sat immobile for years, would be flexing .......

I wondered about that aluminum platter. So, given that I'm not ready to get a whole new turntable, is there any way of resurrecting the original rubber mat? It's pretty stiff. Or are replacement mats .......

Am I crazy here? I recently returned to a certain insanity for audio and found that my 1984 Yamaha turntable (P-320) needs new rubber: belt, cartridge and rubber mat are all gone in one way or another .......

Slew rate is defined as volts per second. So the Odyssey is not giving you enough information. Do they mention near there anything with seconds units? Otherwise you can't convert. .......

Unfortunately, the MGIII's use a (less that optimal :) rectangular wooden base that is screwed into the bottom of the lower wood frame rail. In fact, that lower rail might not even exist on the newer .......

The grease is actually non-conducting, called dielectric grease. It makes a barrier to corrosion on the wires and contacts. You should be able to find it at an electronics store. Warning: I have no id .......
