definitely used. for $250, or under, you can get a turntable that was very well engineered and would cost over $1,000 today. look for one in nice condition from makers such as technics, pioneer, dual .......

yeah im generally also pro simplicity. those EP x-overs are certainly there for a reason, and im sure that they can do good in some situations, probably with a steep learning curve and with lots of t .......

i have a vintage cyrus 2 and, based on my experience with it, i'd say its worth repairing. its sort of a "boogie factor" PRaT amp, along the lines of naim naits. for repair, you cant go wrong wtih cas .......

agree re the disappointment. i went out in chicago from 8am to 11am, found huge lines, and very little left by the time i got to the racks. resellers who went early seemed to grab a lot of the goods. .......

technics SL-1350, SL-1360, SL-1650, SL-1950, are some of the best changers ever made imho. technics also made some that sold under the MCS brand and those are total sleepers! .......

i have also seen these selling in the range of $400. and the arm alone perhaps $250. list here (AA Trader) and USAudiomart, these are free. then if no sale in a few weeks, try ebay or audiogon. these .......

i agree that hsving music direct as a local shop in chicago is a big plus. sort of makes up for not having many high end audio shops for a town this size - decibel, superior (appointment only), saturd .......

i have just started using a technics sl-1300 and have no manual for it. i use it to spin records while i paint, and the auto repeat function is very handy because i only have hands clean enough for fl .......

the surface area of a 15" woofer is actually a lot more than 20% more than a 12" woofer. think about it - each one inch band as you move outward from the center is significantly larger than the one be .......

excellent point! but perhaps under their contract with the label, the musicians don't get final say on how LPs are mixed, pressed, sound etc. you'd think with the leverage the stones had at the peak .......

i have been very impressed with my yaqin phono/pre for about $250 new. a new yaqin tube amp uses 845s and looks sort of like the higher end line magnetic amps. its called the MS-650. anyone heard one .......

i run my 45 SET amp with plenty of gusto thru klipsch klf-30s. many klipsch models should fit the bill. mine are rated at 100db, most klipsch will be similar, in the very high 90s. and a bonus is that .......

concur that with a 2A3 amp you should get up in at least the very high 90s for the efficiency. try to hear some classic klipsch's. very efficient, big sound and relative grand bargains also. i love my .......

i think that thorens itself sold an arm lift a while back. it was black plastic, rectangular and not as complex looking as the AT. they show up on e-bay once in a great while, and are not cheap either .......
