Yes, less and less reason to use CCS's.... Iron sounds better if used even remotely correctly...Hammond 156C is lowly, and amazing.... better iron is even better... Source Followers etc may have a .......

A lot of opinions here, it all depends on your budget...: Low budget Shug 2A3C is quite good, better than Sovtek in every way...for about $150 a pair in USA. Medium budget JJ 2A3-40 really very good, .......

I think what I would do if you want no hum balance pot... Is ideas of both Michael & Triode Kingdom... take the voltage divider you are making to raise the heaters above ground, and apply that voltage .......

ok, So I am assuming you have all the heaters in parallel, so make sure the nearest legs of your heaters get to each side of the balance pot...ok twist and go 90 degress to low level lines as usual.\ .......

There were some 3mica black plates made by Sylvania as 12AT7WA... they are extremely hard and sterile sounding... the GB6201's are very quiet, usually have relatively close balanced sections and all s .......

the answer is none.... unfortunately the Good Reissue work has still not caught up to the 12At7... the older EI 12at7 was actually quite good ....did not have a long life, but usually the same life as .......

the actual real candidates for this are tubes like 12at7, 5965, 12av7, etc... and is hard to find really good sounding 12at7's...there are only a few really good sounding ones...if you are up to using .......

As far as you are concerned in your graphic, you can think of any value you want as always being Instanteous Current, because you are not measuring instantameous current actual, nor is this correctly .......

Here is my take... As a poster said earlier the rectifiers just pass stuff down the line... it is measureable and audible.. If you can use either ultra fast recovery diodes, or High Voltage Schottky's .......

I have to say that the Luxman Integrated Amps frequently had MM/MC after 1982, and sounded excellent...however they are less realiable than Denon or Kyocera. good Luck, -3db .......

they have actually a interesting sound which is what we associate with grid leak bias circuits with actual bias of about -0.1 to -0.3v or so, with no other cathode or formal grid bias supply.... this .......

I second the Z565 transformer for this use: Z is very close, high quality sound, and the spec of 17.5w is underrated, and still very close to the 20w... However perhaps some one has something better: .......

yes I guess that is what I am saying: in my opinion you can use Carbon Film everywhere and have a fine sound... I use 2W everywhere as long as there is space, which there usually is in amps... Carbon .......

Nowhere...not necessary...noisy, and drift prone. For quiet operation, 75% of vintage warm, and long lasting reliability use 2W Carbon Film everywhere.... WireWounds are good also as plate load and ca .......

Yes a bridge is fine, same as any power supply... use a multi stage filter...bipolar is better than electrolytic for first stage, you want big caps for the first stage to help give bias stability, the .......

I personnally would say just difficult to create solder joints with the same 'sheen' as eutectic lead, timing and heat must be spot on. However I am able to make beautiful joints fairly consistently. .......

I suggested the change in the Fender Tone stack from the Calc 1.3, the mid change from 10k pot to 25k pot to make the scoop less...you could do with less scoop...i.e. bypass tone stack altogether... a .......

I just replaced the steel lead Micas with the same value with copper leads in a passive eq 6072 to 6922 phono pre I am still building.... after the change the sound was much more open...veiled like gr .......

for guitar and phono work, the light brown silver mica caps with thin leads are usually copper leads...and DO sound better... Quite good in fact...it says a mica dielectric with silver conductor mediu .......

if you look at the plate characteristics.... Jack's operating point is simply the most sensible for 10k... on the maximum negative swing it is just getting down into the non-linear region of the curve .......

this is why adding a CCS or choke underneath the Cathode follower makes a big difference... so if you are going to do a direct heated cathode follower, the only way is to use a direct heated pentode c .......

yes...in my experience at the larger end 200uf, and combined to 350uf for xover to sub... I am sure the Solen are muddy and slower... so is there something better probably but at very high cost.. -3db .......

the thing is the 12ax7 will barely drive the Miller cap of the 6as7....it sounded good just soft....and it clipped hard This is where I first started liking the 12bz7....it drives the 6as7 much bette .......

Yes the 6an4...at 175V and 18ma is closer, and is a very good sounding tube... still 18ma is not quite enough for full class a2 I think... you need 25ma, with 20 of this undistorted grid current... so .......

if you run both tubes high current... i.e. 2a3 @ 230V .065A, into 4k with a driver which will do +/- 80 volts, with about 20 ma available for grid current.... not easy... the 6c45p @ .015ma to almost .......

you will be very happy... tube phono is another story....many variations depending on gain... the one I favor....dc coupled (unusually good bass) passive eq...no smearing feedback, and high gm tubes f .......

you can do the 'El Cheapo" straight into the circuit you have... The output trannies are excellent by the way, and the Ampex/JBL 8" fullrange speakers in those units are some of the best every manufac .......

It just works well in certain circuits that is all... I is not the easiest tube to use this is certain...but not everyone replaces their 12at7's with direct heated pentodes... However much of it's pro .......

It sounds really excellent with the new sensor Tung Sol 6v6gt's...very good... The 7408's are slightly warmer, but the Tung Sol's are their equal top to bottom, with perhaps a little better top end... .......

you could also increase the return resistor on the 5687 from 230k to 560k. think about the needs of the EL34's ; Cathode feedback typically uses 3x-6x the voltage drive...depending on the winding , so .......

if you use a powered subwoofer, because the A300 is weak in the low bass department... However if you : 1)remove the bass/treble stage (12ax7)...use the current to run 2) a 6cg7 phase inverter in the .......

as the 6cg7 is a genuine correct electrical match for the 12au7... generally even better than the Tele's, however you will have to modify the sockets connections... so, some work, but search this foru .......

the answer is to put the 12.6v filaments in a string, and run a dropping resistor of 230ohms...5w hot,...safety factor x4, so use 20w.. i.e. use the 12.6v connections, not the 6.3v connections, and th .......

ok so I think your amp has three nine pin sockets: (2) El84 (1) 12ax7 so here is what I would do for the easy way: I like DC coupling also...do not go back 1) 12bz7...nice will drive the tube a bit be .......

on the cathode from the two Cascade sections per channel...a very nice place for the 6SL7 to be biased.... No fear just connect as DanLaudionut has suggested... Very stable rock solid bias...the batte .......

I think of the overall box (from the top) being golden... to have the front or sides golden is very chunky....which is why overall Golden sections are good for speakers, but amps...a challenge, howeve .......

but for my money the best, most ugly speaker you will get cheaply for the 45/2A3 amps are the EV1502-er PA speakers....101.5db/1w, and they really rock, you can make them time aligned without problem, .......
