As I know it is not possible to get a clock input on the Attraction DAC, however it is not impossible for the Altmann Creation ADC (which is another incredible product). If you want to use a linear supply you can, however I am sure the battery power is way too important part of the design to loose it.

Actually I do not know the Audio Aero.

However I honestly can say the Altmann DAC is just not comparable to the 99% of the DACs (and CD players). In my computer based system it was in the same league as a Naim CDS3/555PS or Accuphase DP-100/DC101, or the highest - end Zanden, but I found it more musical than a dCS professional system or a highly regarded ML39 and 390S (YMMV of course, it is nothing more than my opinion in my system). When you have an Altmann DAC you do not want to make comparisons anymore, the chance to find something more musical for the same price is really small if exists at all.

There is something fundamentally right about the sound of the Attraction DAC. The music just flows. It is forces you to rediscover your music collection, but not because of more details or more dynamics, absolutely not. It gives you a kind of organic feeling you feel you are part of the musical event. I got back all my old CDs from Doors, from Beatles, Cream, Creedence Clearwater, and some glam rock from my car. Majority of them was practically not listenable ( I liked the music itself of course, but the recordings were really poor, so I listened them mainly in my car).

Not anymore. I just bought quite few collection cds with the 70s early disco music ( I was a DJ in my secondary school at this time, so it is just poor nostalgia) but I got some extremely enjoyable times from the CDs (some 2-3 USD each). Classical music, jazz, world music, everything got new life, even my old mono recordings from Beniamino Gigli, Mario Lanza and others. Almost impossible to find anything which is not listenable and enjoyable. You can hear if the recording is bad, you can hear tons of details if you want, new layers are abundant, as the DAC lets you to concentrate on any building element of the texture and layers of the music. If you want to follow the rhythm, you can do it, if you want to follow the melody, you can get it, if you are concentrating on the bass player work, no problem, the DAC does not force you to follow its rules, you can follow your own rules.

You can ask, what is the secret of the DAC?

I have no exact answer, but I feel the mixture of the different design elements: battery power, breakthrough digital conversion technology, 5 cm signal path, minimalist construction style, the spruce wood and the lucky/talented designer ( ?in this or reverse order? ) gives you a combination of unknown musicality and value. This product (and Mr Altmann's philosophy behind it) is real milestone of the digital sound reproduction technology. Be proud and brave to discover it and forget equipment change until the age of the holographic musical event reproduction arrives.
